Negative Self-Talk Can Hurt You
|
Intermediate
|
Summary
: What was the listening selection about?
|
Sometimes a little
self-criticism is not a bad thing. We all can learn much from our mistakes.
However, too much of it may affect your brain -- and your life.
Negative self-talk.
It is that little voice in your head that judges you. It says you are not
good enough. It reminds you of all your faults and mistakes.
Negative self-talk

about ourselves, and the way we talk to other people about ourselves,
literally creates the outcomes in our lives.

WHO Wants to Remove Trans Fats
from Food
|
Intermediate
|
Summary
: What was the listening selection about?
|
Trans fat can be
found in foods such as donuts, cakes, cookies and deep-fried foods. Baked
goods that sit on grocery shelves for many months but still remain soft and
moist usually contain trans fat. This is because the oil remains solid at
room temperature. And Frieden says this is why it is dangerous to eat. Studies
have found that trans fat raises cholesterol levels in the blood and
increases the risk of heart disease.
