Summary: What was the listening selection about?
When Matt Abraham was in a high school, his English teacher asked the students to stand up and introduced themselves. After the class was over his English teacher called him to join a speech contest. Matt prepared it in 10 minutes presentation well because it is an easy thing to do because he has passion about it.
But, when he showed up, he was shock and got tremendous anxiety. The contest room was much larger and there were so many people than he had expected before.
In the first ten seconds of his 10 minutes presentation his life change forever. He tried to get the audience attention, until he forgot to zipper his pants because of his anxiety. After that moment, he knew to manage anxiety and he dedicated to help other people improve their speech.
He said that about 85% of people feel nervous when they speech in high stage and another 15% he thought that they are lie for being nervous. According to his opinion, anxiety is helpful because it gives a focus and energy. But, we have to manage it and don’t let anxiety manage us.
