Best Way For Increasing Your Vocabulary
The most
important thing that you can do to improve your vocabulary is:
1. Read
Read a lot. You should read anything and
everything. But the most important thing is read what you’re interested in. If
you like sport read a sports magazine. If you like movies, read movies
magazine. Even better if the movie is based on the novel, so read the novel.
For example : the movie Life of Pi was
very famous, it is based on the novel.
2. Write
Do not just learn new words and try to
remember them. But you should to write using the words that you have been
learned. Every time you learn new words, you should to have a notebook with you
all the time anyway.
Write the words in a sentence and make
sure that the sentences clearly show that you know the meaning of the word.
For example:
The Word :
Beautiful
Do not write : The sky is beautiful
Make sure you’re using something, e.g.: I
love to see a beautiful sky that has a pretty cloud, a sunshine, and nice color
because it makes me feel happy.
3. Don’t
limit yourself to one word
When you learn new words, make sure that
you learn different forms of the same word.

4. Roots
> Suffix and Prefix
For example : You have the root “-ject”,
so you learn the word : inject, eject, subject, object, reject, and all the
different words that come from the root so many people only study the word from
the root of “-ject”
This tips is not recommend by the speaker
because you need more patience to learn it.
5. Listen
To Any Spoken English That You Can
For example : Ted.com, it is the a good
website according to the speaker, because there are people give talks and
lectures about the different topics.
Anytime you have a word that you do not
recognize, write it down. If you do not know the spelling you do not have to be
worry, just write it phonetically. Then if you have an access then translate it.
